Response to Poetry                                                                                                     9/19/13

In the poem "We breathed You In", by Patti Tana, she make the poem have to different kinds of structure- literal and symbolic. For example : ... through the new york air in clouds of smoke... that was literal, there was clouds of smoke in New York from the fire, which came from the planes crashing into the twin towers. When she says at the end " We breathe you in" I feel like she is more symbolic than literal right there, because it's a way of saying- we will remember all the people that died during the attack, and by saying that we also honor them.
